Ian graduated from Bristol University in 1984 and initially followed a surgical pathway working in a number of hospitals in the South of England including a very rewarding year at the renowned Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Ian returned to General Practice in 1988 initially in Tonbridge before joining and becoming a Partner at London House, Sevenoaks where he worked for 16 years, latterly with Oasis Dental Care in the role of Lead Clinician until June 2006. Since then, until the opening of the new Sevenoaks Practice, Ian temporarily resided at Fourways Practice in Borough Green, whilst the new surgery was developed. Whilst Ian still carries out surgery on referral from other dental colleagues, he has developed special interests in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. Ian both places and restores dental implants and is building up a state of the art cosmetic dental service in Sevenoaks - Sevenoaks Smile Studio. He is also trained in intravenous sedation, to allow provision of treatment to even the most nervous patients. Ian is passionate about dentistry and the way it enables him to improve peoples lives for the better. Described by one former boss as one of the best dentists outside of London, Ian has a well established reputation for providing quality, reliable care. A keen fan of postgraduate education, Ian recently completed his DPDS Diploma in 2005 specialising in bridgework, gum disease and dentures. Keen to formalise his implant knowledge, Ian studied on the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons ‘Diploma in Implant Dentistry’, and regularly attends courses both in this country and abroad. Ian is currently part way through the first UK MSc in "Aesthetic Dentistry" from Kings College London. Ian, a self confessed perfectionist, has worked tirelessly on the new Practice, travelling around the country getting ideas from other Practices for what he and Miles hope you will agree is a fabulous Practice which will grace Sevenoaks for many years to come.
Ian is a member of the British Dental Association, Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, Association of Dental Implantology and is a Full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Ian is married and lives locally with his wife and two daughters. In what little spare time he has, he enjoys golf, gardening, DIY and photography. His nature photography can be seen on the walls within the main practice. Dr Miles Atkinson BDS
GDC Reg. no. 65330 Originally qualified in UK
Miles graduated from Edinburgh University Dental Hospital in 1990 with class medals in Advanced Restorative Dentistry and Oral Medicine. Being a Kentish man, he returned South of the Border to work in Private practices in Canterbury, Bromley and, more recently Sevenoaks, before establishing this family orientated practice with his long term colleague, Dr Ian Brignall. Miles has extensive experience in many areas of general dental practice, but has a special interest in the field of cosmetic dentistry. He really enjoys helping the children and the more anxious patients to realise their dental aspirations by providing extremely caring, quality dentistry with a calm and relaxing manner. Miles is a member of the British Dental Association. He is an enthusiastic member of the local and regional post graduate education study groups. Miles has recently trained in Dental Practice Appraisal. These ongoing activities compliment the practice policies in striving to provide comprehensive, evidence based dental treatments for all our patients. Miles has 3 energetic children, and enjoys many outdoor activities and hobbies – most notably cycling and rugby. Together, they manage to keep his hands full, but his boundless energy and bubbly enthusiasm keeps him smiling throughout. He is really proud of our new practice that he and Ian have established, and the practice team that they have brought together. Dr Makbule Sipahi Ogretme BDS, PhD
