Your Examination
We like to make your first visit to our dental practice as
pleasurable as possible. You will be greeted by one of our reception
staff who will invite you to sit in our comfortable air conditioned
lounge. There is a selection of hot beverages or chilled water for
your enjoyment. Also we have a wide variety of books, magazines and
dental literature.
We ask all new patients to try to arrive fifteen minutes before their
dental appointment. This allows time to complete one of our
confidential medical questionnaires and a dental menu or wish-list. Our
reception staff will be able to help with this.
We are strong believers that preventive care and education are the keys
to optimal dental health. We believe that you should always be fully in
charge of your dental health and we are here to help you, and provide
the information you need. If at any time you require further
information regarding our cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening, implants,
veneers or any other aspect of our services, our staff will be more than
happy to assist you.
Your examination with us is not just a check-up, it is far more than
that! At your initial assessment and all recalls thereafter, we always
focus on thorough examinations,
-
Assessing the overall health of your teeth and old dental
restorations,
-
Assessing the health of your gums for bleeding, inflammation and
bone loss,
-
Examining your tongue, lips, cheeks, glands and jaw,
-
Performing oral cancer checks,
-
Checking that your jaw joints are correctly aligned
-
and taking low dose digital X-rays when necessary, to evaluate any
hidden problems.
We focus not only on your dental health but are also concerned about
your general health. A regular updating of an initial medical history
will keep us informed of your overall health, and allow us to inform you
of the effect that any new medication or changes in your wellbeing may
have on your dental health, or any planned general or cosmetic
treatments.
Any concerns you may have about your smile can be discussed. In fact, we
have a specific smile questionnaire to help us advise you about the
best, and most conservative, methods available. Information for you At the end of any examination, we will provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about your dental health and smile, and how to make any treatment as comfortable as possible. Any advice that we give you will always be based on your best interests. We are passionate about our craft and the care we offer. To help you in your decision making, we will openly and candidly discuss with you what you can expect from our recommended treatment plan, the stages involved, anticipated results, cost and alternatives. We encourage you to ask questions so you can decide confidently how to proceed. |
